The Australian Federal Government announced earlier this year that they will implement new accessibility standards on all government websites.  These internationally recognized standards, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0 (WCAG 2.0), provide the guidelines to successfully implement a compliant web site.

eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is best described as a set of communication rules that simplify the way information is shared between software applications to enrich the viewing experience of humans. Initial designed to assist the complex communications within the electronic publishing industry, this World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standard has now found its way into main stream web communications and data transfer.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has recommended the Web Services Description Language Version 2.0 (WSDL 2.0) as the best model for two web based systems to successful communicate with each other. WDSL is the foundation language from which web services are built from, it provides a machine readable description - in the form of a file - on how to communicate with the host service and which parameters it expects and how the data structures will be returned.

What does this mean?

The ODBC standard is designed to be a universal interface between applications and database solutions. If an application is “ODBC compliant” it utilises a specific ODBC driver to retrieve information from a database management system (DBMS). 

Being fully ODBC compliant enables Intelledox to connect to all major DBMS solutions.  

The basic concept of a RSS feed is to notify interested readers that a website has updated its content. Although bringing this simple notification concept to fruition has had several attempts, starting as far back as 1995. It was not till 1999 that RSS became a communications format that met the needs of internet authors and syndicate publishers.

Browser manufacturers and web developers alike are adopting the 5th revision of HTML to improve a user’s web experience. Whilst still under development and not formally recognized by the W3C (as of Nov 2011), components of this hybrid technology (HTML, CSS3 and Java script) are being implemented to streamline the way we interact with web based applications whether via PC, tablets or other mobile devices.
